Sussex Transport Senior Cup R1.
Anvils exit Sussex Senior Cup at the first hurdle.
They started well against the 2nd placed league opponents Haywards Hth Town and were on top until HH scored on a break away after 24mins and again on 33mins. HT 0-2 HH
2nd half: The first 15 mins saw the Anvils pressing the play and looking more likely to score and on 57 mins Josh Alder found space to lash home 1-2 HH and game on!!
The next 12 mins were a disaster for the Anvils as HH hit 4 goals seemingly scoring at will. The Anvils managed to stem the fllow in the last 10 mins.

U18's put up a good performance against the Isthmian side.
They started well early on with the Anvils going ahead on 8 mins 1-0 through George Ferrar after he was put through by Alfie Mott. Anvils held their lead until Leatherhead drew level on 25 mins. HT: 1-1
2nd half Leatherhead began to get on top scoring on 47, 72, and 82 mins to go through to the 1st Qual round of the FA Yth Cup. Leatherhead had a very strong Midfield which dominated in the 2nd period but when the Anvil attacked their defence chances were created. With a bit more luck the result could have been a lot closer. Good luck to Leatherhead in the next round.
August Bank Holiday fixture:
Anvils come away from Billingshurst with a draw 1-1
Anvils started really well and took the lead on 3mins through Callum Kilkenny. But strangely after that both sides seemed to take the Bank Holiday as a stroll in the park and the 1st period fizzled out with the Anvils leading 1-0.
2nd half the Bank Holiday feeling continued this time with Billingshurst scoring on 55mins and from then on in both sides gifted each other open goals but none were capitilized on, result 1-1 draw. Could have been 5-5!!
AFC Varndeanians have always been a difficult team to beat as far as the Anvils are concerned and so they proved once again.
Anvils in the main dominated throughout but could not break down the Varndeanians defence and in short, as AFC have repeatably proved before and over many seasons, got a break and scored after 57 mins. Despite Anvils pressure for the rest of the half they were unable to find a way through. Resolute defending deservedly won the game.

Peter Bentley Cup 2nd Rd
Not the best of performances from the Anvils but both teams having to cope with a very poor surface obviously affected by the lack of rain which didn't help either side to play.
Anvils went ahead after 23mins with a low shot past the oncoming keeper from Alex Tidy. GC then tightened their game and caused the Anvils to have to soak up a lot of pressure but held their lead at HT.
2nd half GC continued to force the Anvils to defend and deservedly drew level from a free kick 1-1.
From then on in it was 'even' with both sides having chances. Anvils were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box on 77mins and Will Harley duly put the ball away to go 2-1 up. A few chances late on but both teams were cancelled out by the two defences. Result 2-1 Anvils.
Game of two halves. Anvils 4-2 Forest Row
Forest Row came storming out of the blocks pinning the Anvils back in their own penalty area for much of the half.
No suprise then that FROW went ahead on 7mins but although they dominated the rest of the half possession wise, no further goals were added, the half finishing 0-1 FROW.
2nd period FROW continued to find chances and on 57mins increased their lead 0-2 Frow. All over!! not a chance, as first Oli Leslie found space to hit home reducing the arrears 1-2 and then 5mins later James Laws equalised close in for the Anvils 2-2 and on 75 Will Harley crashed home a header putting the Anvils 3-2 up. Oli Leslie then settled the match on 82 mins hitting low into the corner. 4-2 Anvils.
Cracking game of football from a neutral perspective and nail biting for anyone else.

Very even game throughout chances even for both sides.
Anvils were the first to show with an early strike by Will Harvey on 8mins. Several chance for both sides but the Anvils led by the only goal at HT.
2nd half Guernsey started the brighter and duly equalised on 51 mins 1-1.A few substitutions for the Anvils which paid off with Callum Kilkenny carmly slotting in a cross from Will Harley on 51 mins 2-1 Anvils.
Back came Guernsey to equalise again on 77mins 2-2. The last 15 mins was hectic with both sides trying to get the winner but no further goals and the match ended 2-2.
